#1 Don't make a person into a project.
#2 Don't make them feel guilty about things that they cannot do.
#3 Remember important anniversaries, good & bad. No one else will.
#4 Respect their prayer requests.
#5 Recognize that medications can make one irrational at times.
#6 Never question if your friend is exaggerating their pain level.
#7 Don't visit if you think you are getting sick. Call instead.
#8 Remember illness is not just a matter of attitude.
#9 When they say they're TIRED, they're WIPED OUT.
#10 Roses won't impress them, a dandelion each month will.
#11 Remember, pain makes people more grouchy than they ever wanted to be.
#12 Make plans in advance but understand they may have to cancel.
#13 Don't ask too many questions. Friends don't want to be science projects.
#14 Don't talk with their caregiver as if your friend isn't there.
#15 Understand how hard it is to accept help.
#16 Don't assume because they live with relatives, needs are taken care of.
#17 Don't abandon friendship because there are awkward moments.
#18 Time is more important to them than any amount of money you will spend.
#19 Don't interrupt.
#20 What they could do yesterday may not be possible today.
#21 Consider yourself a friend for their journey, not a physician nor savoir.
#22 Dont make a big deal out of them using an assistive device, like a cane.
#23 Remember that life is not always like the drug commercials.
#24 It's about your presence, not your presents.
#25 Just show up! Phone calls are nice but visiting is better.
#26 Don't talk about their illness in front of their children.
#27 Help clean their house before out-of-town guests arrive.
#28 When they cry, just sit with them.

Fibromyalgia - Recovered From Old Blog
Between 2012 and 2013 I collected a lot of videos and some info about Fibromyalgia (FMS), Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS), Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS), Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), Willis-Ekbom disease, Sleep Apnoea and Migraine. which I posted to my blog However, my old web host disappeared overnight at the back end of 2014. Thanks to the Wayback Machine, I've managed to recover all these old entries and have uploaded them onto my new blog.

Moving Home
After living in the same town for over 40 years, I have upped sticks and moved; 4½ miles away!

Amazon Fire TV Stick
Amongst a small number of presents, I got an Amazon Fire TV stick for my birthday this year. It's a great, little device! It uses the Amazon Appstore and there are apps for BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5, Sky Go, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and the WWE Network, amongst others. You can even connect a bluetooth keyboard, mouse or game controller to it. The only app that I was disappointed to discover isn't available, is the BT Sport app, which is available through the Google Play Store, but not the Amazon Appstore. I hope that's rectified at some point in the future. If it's something that you've thought about buying in the past, but wasn't too sure about, I can honestly say that I would happily pay full price for one. Click on the link to the left if you want to buy one/see more details on Amazon's UK website. |

The Teapot Trust
The Teapot Trust children’s charity uses art therapy as a way of helping young people cope with long term medical conditions. We know that these conditions can cause anxiety, anger or upset for children and families. Art therapy provides a way of expressing and dealing with feelings, helping children to feel more in control and to cope with their condition.
Visit them.

James 3:16
Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Mean-spirited ambition isn’t wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isn’t wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn’t wisdom. It’s the furthest thing from wisdom—it’s animal cunning, devilish conniving. Whenever you’re trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others’ throats.

She's Walking...
Just about a month or so ago, Varda took her first tentative steps, using furniture and willing volunteers to help. Since then, she's got more and more confident and prefers to walk whenever she can, rather than crawling. Last night, she took her first tentative steps without aid, then did is again, and this morning she's done it again.
