Dungeons & Dragons: Tiny Adventures

| Comments (0)

Wizards of the Coast have recently launched a Facebook app called Dungeons & Dragons: Tiny Adventures. You can select your character from seven different templates. I chose the Human Cleric. You can visit a shop to buy and sell equipment. You have an inventory that you can use to equip different items and you can equip 2 potions per adventure. It's a neat little way to introduce a whole raft of potential new players to the D&D universe.

If you have a Facebook account you can find it here.

Traveler IQ Challenge

How well do you know your world?

Take the Traveler IQ Challenge and find out. My best score is 294546, level 9 of 12, World Cities (Very Hard).

I'm quite pleased since I didn't do any Geography past 3rd year of secondary school (aged 14).

Five Freebie Game Downloads

A few freebie game downloads for you.

First up are two games form the same author. Thrust Xtreme; a remake of a classic game of yesteryear and Grid Assault, a PC remake of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Both are available from here.

Next up is Detritus; a fast-paced shoot-em-up strongly based on the old classic Asteroids. It can be downloaded from here.

The fourth game is called Gunroar; a vertically-scrolling take on Geometry Wars / Robotron. There are also a few other games available from the same author. You can download Gunroar from here.

The final game is Nanozoa. Remember the movies Inner Space and The Fantastic Voyage? In Nanozoa, you pilot a tiny ship through a person's body aiming to kill parasites and microbes. It has a very stylish black and white look and is available to download from here.

Urban Dead

Urban Dead is an online game that I've played on and off for the last couple of years. The premise of the game is very simple. Survive or kill the survivors if you're a Zombie. If you play a human and die you become a zombie. Zombies can be revived and returned to life.

Fantasy Football

With the new football season less than a month away the time has come for the papers to start hyping their Fantasy Football games. Over the past few years I've played in the Telegraph Fantasy Football along with a bunch of work colleagues. I received an email this morning about the Guardian Fantasy Football, which is free, and since I'm not working at the moment I've decided to join up. You're given a budget of £100m and have to pick a squad of 15 players. My current first eleven is M Almunia, L King, P Evra, M Skrtel, S Warnock, G Barry, C Ronaldo, R Giggs, D Bentley, R Santa Cruz & D Berbatov. My substitutes are M Schwarzer, S Campbell, A Smertin & J Elmander.

You can sign up here and I have created a league called "Bowch's Blog League" which I have already invited a load of friends to. If I haven't invited you and you would like to participate then drop me an email and I'll give you the password.

Project Rockstar

Project Rockstar is an online music management game that I originally played a number of years ago. It was great fun and I only stopped playing when the game was reset and was offline while some upgrades were implemented. I soon moved onto other things and forgot the game. But I was downstairs on Dad's PC on Friday and noticed it in amongst all my old bookmarks that I had installed on his sytem for him. And hence, the renewal of an old friendship was instigated. Go and check it out.

Quick Link

I'm off roleplaying today so here's a quick link for you:

See how long you can last.

My record is 17.047 18.016 seconds.

Oh, and this is my 400th entry since starting the blog almost 5 years ago.

Puki

Puki is a pretty good flash game. It's nice and simple; and pretty addictive. Controls are mouse and keys. Read the info first.

Trukz

I've just bought a new truck; and it was brand new. Cost me $85,500 rather than the full price of $95,000 thanks to the company discount.

I know Pixie has blogged about Trukz before but I thought I'd try and raise it's exposure a little bit; especially since Pixie isn't updating his blog anymore.

From the about page: Trukz (pronounced "Trucks") is a text based trucking simulation game where you create your driver, buy yourself a truck, then earn money by hauling loads to and from various cities around the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and numerous countries in and around Europe. Each city has its own distinct supplies and demands that update throughout the game.

I've been playing since mid-July 2007 and I'm now ranked #460 of 15,307 drivers.

Online Games

White Dwarf is a game that seems deceptively easy but isn't really. My highest score is about 7,000.

Winter Bells is a rather cute game involving a rabbit and bells. It's got some nice music with it.

Avoider has a rather simple concept. Keep the mouse pointer safe for as long as possible.

Home Run entails you trying to help a drunken man walk home. Sounds easy until you remember the guy is drunk.

Lemmings

I've found an online version of Lemmings located here. It has options for sound but it doesn't seem to work. Anyway, I've played through all the Fun levels and it seems a fairly accurate reincarnation.

Gaming Mosaics

Quite cool mosaics of Sonic & Mario; made from Avatars.

The Escapist

The Escapist is a weekly online magazine that covers gaming and gamer culture with a progressive editorial style, with articles and columns by the top writers in and outside of the industry. Its magazine-style updates offer content for a mature audience of gamers, entertainment enthusiasts, industry insiders, and other “NetSet” readers.

One of the main highlights is Zero Punctuation, a series of weekly web video game reviews by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw; a British-born, currently Australian-based writer and gamer with a sweet hat and a chip on his shoulder. When he isn't talking very fast into a headset mic he also designs freeware adventure games and does the occasional feature for Australia's Hyper Magazine.

Game Over

GAME OVER is one of the art projects developed by the Swiss artist Guillaume Reymond (NOTsoNOISY creative agency). It consists of a series of collaborative animation movies which revive some of the very first video games. The pixels are replaced by a group of real human-beings that are moving from seat to seat in a theatre during about 4 to 6 hours. Each "pixel" has its own rules and decides what s/he wants to do for each picture. Once all these pictures are turned into a short animation movie, a giant human-scale video game unfolds "live".
