Tasha's Gone

Not only am I heartbroken but I also feel like a complete bastard.

After brightening up yesterday; even so far as going for a walk, Tasha deteriorated over night again. The vet phoned me at 9am this morning to let me know that he felt putting her to sleep would be the humane thing to do. Putting my own feelings aside I reluctantly agreed. I really choked up talking to him.

I went up as soon as I could and she didn't even perk up a little bit as I entered the room; in fact it was almost as if she either didn't recognise me or wasn't bothered that I was there. Although, I suppose the condition she was in and being left alone for 2 nights with people she didn't know didn't help.

Anyway, at 9:45am as I held her paw the vet administered the anaesthetic and she quietly slipped away.

I can't thank the vets enough for the time and effort that they put in to trying to keep her alive.

I know how you feel mate, I really do. We had the same thing when Ellie went. A dog is a large part of the family. Please don't think of yourself as a heartless bastard, coz you're not. I know how much you love Tasha, and what you did was because you love her so much. She is no longer suffering, which is the reason you had to do it. No words though can help how you feel.

But you got our number if you want to talk.
