Think the clutch has gone. Anyway, phoned the RAC and they took the car to my local Ford dealership. Will be getting a courtesy car delivered to work in the morning.
The Ford Focus is a car you can't go far wrong with, especially not the ST. Unless you forget it is a diesel you are driving now, in which case things could go very wrong after filling up the tank.
I bet you're hoping they keep yours in the garage for a good while longer :)
