By Drove down to Manchester yesterday afternoon.
A group of lads from work went to see the UEFA Champions League match between Manchester United and SL Benfica; the first time the 2 clubs had met since the historic 1968 European Cup Final.
This was going to be my first ever visit to Old Trafford and left home at 3pm, planning to pick up a couple of lads in Workington at 3:30pm before waiting for one of the other drivers to make sure we all knew the way. Anyway, soon got separated enroute and I ended up getting delayed on the M6 at J31 due to a lorry fire. Finally got to Old Trafford just after 8pm. Climbed what seemed like an endless amount of stairs to the top of the West Stand, formerly the Stretford End. Had an excellent view of the pitch, caught all 3 goals, and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The right result also, although not the best of performances. Got out of the car park at 10:25pm and was home bang on 1am.
Already looking forward to my next visit.
