A little over a week to go until Christmas, and I've already got everybody's presents bought, did it all online, but still haven't sent out any cards. I'm not yet into the festive spirit and the ways things are I probably won't be up until the 23rd when I'm going out for the office celebration.
Last year the buying team went out by ourselves and happened to meet up with the finance team in town. I got well and truly wasted, but thankfully I had the Friday off work and spent most of it in bed recovering. I'd said before going out that I was gonna drink myself stupid, but didn't actually mean it, and ended up doing so anyway.
This year the buying and personnel teams are going out together, along with a couple of other members of staff. So from a party of 6 last year, there's 16 of us this year. It's been a nightmare for Amanda, not my Amanda, but rather our office administrator, to try and book a table anywhere; so we're just going to start off in Wetherspoons and see if we can half-inch a few tables. That's what we did last year anyway. If not, we'll either just start boozing earlier or end up somewhere daft like MacDonald's.
This year, I'm working Friday, as is everbody else going out, so I'll have no chance to recover and can't afford to get wasted. Luckily, one of the most important aspect of my job, calling stock off from external sites, is done the day before we use it, which is a bit like fortune telling. How much stock are we going to need tomorrow? Tend to base the orders on previous trends and usages, with special consideration given to promotional items. Anyway, I can do that on the Thursday, which means Friday I'll just be processing transactions and any deliveries we receive.
Everybody have fun over the festive period and be safe.
