Saturday morning dawned cool and dry with a very slightly overcast sky; no real indication of the weather ahead. Spent most of Saturday morning pottering around doing nothing much. Colin and Scott decided to go and queue up about 10:00am ready for the main gates opening at 11:00am. We decided to leave it until closer to 12:00 and Scoot decided to try and get some extra sleep; apparently a group of revellers a few tents over had kept him awake all night. At 12:00 we made a move and headed off to the queue.

After taking almost 45 minutes to get in we thought that we had missed the opportunity to see Powder up on the Snickers Game On Stage, caught a wee bit of Opeth in passing. Luckily, the stage was already running behind and we managed to catch their full set. They really set the tone for the rest of the day with a hard hitting, fun, sexually charged set, which included some pole dancing from the 3 female members of the band. Absolutely cool, and I'm going to buy their album.

After Powder's set finished we decided to wander back to the main stage, getting a burger on the way, and managed to catch the back end of Monster Magnet and the whole of Cradle Of Filth's set. To be honest they're not everybody's cup of tea, and I'm not a die-hard fan but rather a passing fan, especially of their Midian album. Anyway, their stage show rocked and included a couple of rope tricks from a lady who may well have been a gymnast. Very good set. John and Paul who have even less experience of them than me were both impressed too.

Next up were The Distillers of whom I'd heard good things from Michael, at work, and they didn't disappoint; although they could have played the crowd a bit better than they did. Maybe they were nervous. The Hives, who followed them, were absolutely awesome. I'd heard whisperings that they were quite good and although their kind of ealy punk-rock music might not be to everybody's taste, they played the crowd brilliantly and I think they probably won over any doubters in the crowd.

Next, everybody sat expectantly waiting Iggy And The Stooges...
