X2

Hey, like most of the people that I know I went to see X2 tonight, dunno why they just didn't go with X-Men 2 as a title, after all it identifies the franchise...

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the first film and the opening sequence of X2 really caught my attention; very nicely done. I suppose with X2 I was expecting an action-fest and hence when things slowed down I tended to fidget and want it to get back in to the action. Don't get me wrong, a good story driven movie attracts me as much as an action packed thriller. But, I tend to find that I categorize movies prior to watching them and have pre-conceived expectations of what the movie should deliver. X2 as a result didn't quite live up to my expections.

The CGI was excellent as one would expect and the action sequences were very well put together. I just found that some of it left me feeling a little flat; it just didn't quite feel right in places. Overall, probably 7/10.

I don't have any plans to go see any movies in the next couple of weeks, but Matrix: Reloaded is imminent and that looks kick-ass; the trailers that I have seen have really impressed me. Another film I will go and see, although I haven't seen any trailers for yet, will be Hulk. Should be a fairly good summer, especially with Charlie's Angels 2 due, good or bad, 3 nice ladies to leer at for 90 minutes or so...
