Driving

This week marked a bit of a departure in my efforts to learn how to drive; took 2 lessons this week and came to the conclusion that I love to drive. I supppose my ideal job is as a long distance truck driver; for some reason it appeals to me, although it'd mean I wouldn't get to put anywhere near as much time into my other hobby, my PC...

Anyway, driving instructor scared me tonight. He suggested it was time that I start considering applying for my theory test. I think my driving is going well, but didn't think it was going that well. When I first started learning, only about 2 months ago now, I purchased a theory test cd. Had a look at it this evening and realised that there's a lot of stuff on there that doesn't appear to be relevant. How does knowing first aid, as useful and noble as it might be, make you a better driver? Anyway, did 4 mock tests, and of the 4 I only once scored under 85%; and I haven't even looked at a Highway Code. Seems I was right in assuming that a lot of the theory test is down to general knowledge.

This week's exercises involved 3-point turns and reverse parking, both of which seemed to go well, next week the plan is to do more of the same and maybe move on to parking into parking bays. We'll see...
