Seasons greetings to one and all..
2003 Archives
I think I've just about recovered enough to bring you all a tale to strike terror in to most hearts. Well, ok, I'm lying. Most of you will probably end up pissing your pants with laughter...
Over the last 3 or 4 years I've treated myself to a christmas treat.
Like most of the other bloggers I link to I was in Blackpool this past weekend for a Quest Pubmeet.
The provisional date set for BT to activate ADSL on your line is:
27th Nov 2003 - After 12pm
I'm an uncle again; for the 6th time overall.
I think that pretty much says it all...
The Quest meet is in two weeks time and I've agreed to run a Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition Dungeoncrawl whilst we're in Blackpool.
I enjoy every minute of it...
With broadband just around the corner I decided to add a new hard drive to my system. After looking around I settled on the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 6Y160M0, a 160gb SATA drive, from Overclockers, which was just a shade over 100GBP including delivery. At least that way I'll have plenty of storage space for anything that I might download.
I went and saw Matrix Revolutions tonight. I felt that overall it's a much better movie than the second one. The interaction with The Architect spoiled the flow of the second movie in my opinion. This new movie flows from start to finish and is over 2 hours of pure enjoyment...
Today is the start of the annuanl SASRA RPG Club's 24 Hour Sponsored Roleplay.
Thought I'd killed my PC earlier...
I had a nice day off work today and went into town to do a bit of shopping.
Reading Splog's Blog I discovered today that his PC is named Grendel.
Wrestling lost a legend today; Stu Hart, 88, died from complications of diabetes and pneumonia. He is survived by 10 of his 12 children. Respected by everybody in the business he was involved in wrestling for well over 50 years and was responsible for training many of wrestling's greats. He will be sorely missed by all...
I went roleplaying yesterday, as I do virtually every Saturday.
I had my driving test today.
I've recently come across a couple of things that in theory should be quite nice, but aren't; in fact, they bloody ming...
I read on Pixie's blog that he'd been feeling ill at the start of the week and felt a wee bit of sympathy for him. It was only a wee bit. because, after all, it was him that was ill and not me. Now, in a case of you get what you deserve... I'm full of cold. It sucks! That is all...
I've got a friend in the Navy; his name is Mark, and this weekend he had some time at home.
As mentioned in a previous post I recently bought a new Freecom DVDR/RW drive and it wouldn't burn to various brands of media. I ended up paying extra for some 'Zero Defex' media but at least they worked fine in the drive.
Gaz has a lot to answer for.
Ok, I admit that I had an inkling all along of what Mark was asking, and here, after much brain-wracking, are my 5:
Okay, Mark, here's my 5 and kinda reasons...
I've finally gotten around to updating the contents of my eStore.
Well, we've had lots of discussion on IRC over the last couple of days concerning, amongst other things, the Power Rangers and a couple of milkshake drinks, Crusha & Fridj, although NesQuick only got mentioned in passing.
Went to Jo's 40th birthday party last night.
Once upon a time I used to own an Amiga 1200 with a fair few extra goodies.
Well, my driving test has been booked, and the 2nd week in October will see me attempting to pass it.
For a while now I've thought that my blog could do with some design work to it.
Well, I've done over 70 hours this week at week, and needless to say I'm absolutely cream-crackered.
Wednesday 19th November 2003...
Just read mcphee's blog and discovered that Averil has sold the Sutton Park.
Over the last year or so I have gradually become more and more disillusioned with Quest.
No updates recently; I've been away for the weekend in Folkestone, visitng friends. Weather was excellent and as usual we consumed a fair bit of alcohol and demolished about half a freezer of various meat products on the barbecue.
Well, still no luck with the UPS, just won't accept any kind of load. I have a friend who is a field engineer for IBM, will ask him to have a look at it.
As can be seen by the date of the previous post, I'm always full of good intentions, but very short on actually being able to deliver on a regular basis.
It's been a week since my last entry and to be honest it's been a really long week. It's not even as if I've had a really busy week that I can reveal details of, it's just been once of those weeks where the days seem to merge in to one another. I'd orginally thought that I could take advantage of Amanda's holiday and try to catch up on a few things. I should have known that was never going to happen.
Quite a while since my last blog, but, I've been so busy that I've hardly had time to log on and get email let alone spend time online doing something such as a blog.
Took Amanda, and a few other friends, to see Matrix Reloaded last night. Boy, was it an action-fest, didn't disappoint, although a couple of the fight scenes seemed overly long to me. A lot of the time sequels tend to come up short when compared to their parent movie; not in this case. It delivers... If Matrix Revolutions; which is previewed after the End Credits of Reloaded, remember to sit through them, delivers anywhere near the same level it'll have to go down as probably the greatest sci-fi movie trilogy of all time.
Well, it's almost the middle of the week and it's been well over a week since my last entry; which, to be honest, is probably not that surprising.
Had a driving lesson on Friday afternoon, the wonders of reversing around a corner were revealed to me, along with instruction to book my Theory Test. Well, I have done so and Saturday June 7th is the first big date in my efforts to learn to drive.
Got my PC back on Monday evening, spent all yesterday evening reinstalling software and most of this evening reinstalling games.
Hey, like most of the people that I know I went to see X2 tonight, dunno why they just didn't go with X-Men 2 as a title, after all it identifies the franchise...
Well, yesterday was polling day in Copeland, although truth be told due to the fact that Copeland ran an all postal elections ballot papers were being returned from mid-April onwards.
This week marked a bit of a departure in my efforts to learn how to drive; took 2 lessons this week and came to the conclusion that I love to drive. I supppose my ideal job is as a long distance truck driver; for some reason it appeals to me, although it'd mean I wouldn't get to put anywhere near as much time into my other hobby, my PC...
Saw Bulletproof Monk the other night; in places it kinda reminds me of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; and you can see John Woo's influence, he was one of the producers of the movie, on some of the scenes. Definitely worth going to see; I'd give it 8½/10, and I will be buying it when it's released on DVD.
Normally a result like this would fill me with joy, but not tonight.
Well, got bullied in to creating a Blog by Mojo, who didn't want to be the only person adjudged to be daft by his friends and peers. Hey, anything to help my insecure Southern friend...
